From mail I just received as to building of Saarland pages for worldgenweb.

Amazing, that he didn't contact me in this matter !? - Surely I am interested to know, what kind of Saarland page there will be edited and which queries and information he is missing.

But a french translation for the 100 percent German area of Saarland is great. Hope, he will do also for palatine, prussia, russia a.s.o., because this areas/countries had been under french occupation too ;-)

I think he has a point. We should endeavor to offer bilingual pages lest these all get replicated elsewhere in translation.

It will be easier (in USA) to replicate, if there exists an English kind of a German page, I think. But the more such pages offers not generally information only, but more specially facts/dates of an area, the easier users are able to find out where some genealogical competence is behind it.

Klaus, is there no one you know who can help with the Saarland pages to get them into English?

It was not my intention to offer the genealogic Saarland information in English completely -although I would be able to do this, I think (maybe without some especially historic phrases), because

- it needs a lot of time - all updating must be done twice - what about information like "Gesamt-Inhaltsverzeichnis", which contains separate listed titles of all essays, ever published by "Saarlaendische Familienkunde" or an index like "Sachregister" with very specially and old terms ?

From people, which will really do serios genealogic research at German resources, should be expected a little knowledge of this language, I think and by the way the other kind of genealogists ("Anywhere out there ...") may find such information later, when they had done some basically genealogical research at first.

By the way, I offered at our two main pages (SAARLAND-, ASF-), to send inquieries in English to me and meanwhile a lot of Americans and others all over the world had used it without problems.
