I have several Jobst in my Ahnenlist and collateral lists. It seems to have been a quite common name in the 18th/19th centuries in the Hoya area. I don't know about today. Aside from "Joseph", it is more apt to be translated as "Jacob". Jane Jane Swan jeswansong(a)... Why Wait? Move to EarthLink.
