Linhardt/Otto Marriage Record

Date: 1998/11/02 01:32:39
From: LTBoehmke <LTBoehmke(a)aol.com>

Need marriage record for my great grandparents, Johann Wolfgang LINHARDT and
Margarete OTTO, both born in Bavaria. He was born ca. 23 December 1823. He
was evangelical and she may have been roman catholic.
They were living in St Louis, Missouri by 1849 where their first child,
Louise, was born.
At the time of the 1850 US Census they were living with her parents, Louise
and Maragete OTTO.
I enjoy hearing from anyone researching the Linhardt family.

Genealogical archive in Nuernberg

Date: 1998/11/29 20:37:36
From: Bruno Bauernschmidt <bauernschmidt(a)odn.de>

[Notice please, that this message was published in the BAVARIA-list a week ago]
To all members of the Franken list:
My name ist Bruno Bauernschmidt and I am living in the town Zirndorf near of Nuernberg. I am listmember since a few weeks, but until today only as a quiet reader.
Now I want to offer my help to all, who are searching ancestors from Franconia, the northern part of Bavaria (german: Franken). The background is the following:
In Nuernberg is the archive of a local genealogical society, called 'Gesellschaft fuer Familienforschung in Franken'. This archive is a collection of a lot of different genealogical material (most of it are 'Ahnenlisten', that means family trees) and there are also some possibilities to make a search for surnames or locations. The material was collected during the last 75 years and you can only use it by visiting the archive. Normally I visit this archive once a week and there is no difficulty to make some lookups for other listmembers.
When you have genealogical questions or search-problems, which belongs to Franconia or Bavaria, please write a mail to the list with some details, and I will try to help. Please be a little bit patient, my answer can take two or three weeks.
At the end a general question to all members: Should the answer to a question, which was send to the list, also send to the list, means readable for all, or should the answer send to the private adress?

Bruno -

Thanks very much for your offer. I am trying to find information on
Sebastian VOLL, who was born in Steinach an der Saale on 05 Jan 1867
(Steinach an der Saale is near Bad Kissingen). He came to New York, USA in
1891 or 1892 and married Katherine ALBERT, who was also born in Germany
(but I don't know where) in 1866, came to New York in 1891 or 1892, and
died in 1928 in New York. Sebastian died on 19 June 1940 in Syracuse, New
York. Sebastian and Katherine married around the same time that they
emigrated, so I don't know if this took place in Germany or the USA.

Any birth, marriage or emigration information on Sebastian or Katherine (or
other information on their families) would be extremely helpful.

Thanks!

Doug

Bruno,
Vielen Dank as well for the offer to help. I have also just recently joined the Franken list and have been a quiet reader. I am not an active genealogy researcher but "Nuernberg" in the title of your note caught my interest.
I had a great-uncle, named Andreas Dück, who died in Nuernberg in July or August of 1977. I believe he was born in Görau, possibly around 1890, and worked the majority of his life for the Deutsche Bahn. He is the son of Georg Dück (b. 12/25/1863 in Görau; d. 4/20/1939) and Margarete Schmitt (b. 10/29/1861 in Görau; d. 5/17/1939).

I would be interested in any further birth, marriage or death information that you could provide on Andreas Dück or on his ancestors and their families. My father was a Schweinfurter and named me after his uncle.
Grüß,

Dear Bruno,

Thank you for your generous offer. My great grandparents came from
Oberfranken, Bavaria, and I was hoping you could check on them.

My great grandmother was Anna Margaret Wirth.
She was born March 14,1874 in Lehesten.
Lehesten is near Hof, but a little north and west.
She emmigrated about 1892 to Pgh PA
I think her father was Jacob Wirth and was a farmer.

My great grandfather was Johann Ott.
He was born March 25,1875 town is unknown.
He emmigrated about 1891 to Pgh PA.
His father was Franz Ott a Butcher we think.
His mother was Margareta.

I think they were helped by Mr. George Dimmling.
He was born 1854 in Wuestenselbitz, Bavaria.
I think this is just south of Hof.
Mr. Dimmling was a restauranteur in Pgh.

Any information on these Wirth or Ott families would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerly,

Michael E. Ott

Bruno,
I'd like to take you up on your generous offer. I'm looking for
information on any or all of the following:
1. My great great grandparents Nichols Muller and Elizabeth Hubbman.
Elizabeth Hubbman was born about 2 Feb., 1830
2. My great grandparents Sebastian Gumpert and Helene Muller. Helene was
born in Buchold, Bavaria about June, 1865.
3. My grandfather, Charles Nicholas Gumpert born, possibly Wurzburg, 11
Sept., 1885 who emigrated to the U.S. at an early age with his parents.
Helene Muller's known three sisters were Sabina (born Buchold 14 Nov.,
1863), Mary (born Buchold 16 Nov., 1867) and Margaret. Her known brothers
were Nicholas, and Benjamin. She probably has three other siblings.
I'm greatly in your debt for your effort. What can I do to return the
favor?

Bruno,
Perhaps I should add to my earlier query concerning Muller, Hubbman,
and Gumpert that Buchold is now apparently part of Arnstein and that the
Mullers and Gumperts were Catholic.

From: SISTER ANNAMARY FELLNER <afellner(a)mail.usmo.com>

Dear Bruno,

Thank you so much for your generous offer of help. My
great-grandparents (George and Anna [Looshorn] Fellner) were from
Geusmanns, Oberfranken. George was born in 1856 of George Fellner and
Anna Zitzmann; Anna was born in August of 1855. They left Germany and
landed in New York Harbor in March of 1877.

I would appreciate any information that you might be able to discover
regarding the Fellner-Looshorn-Zitzmann families. (I believe they
attended the Catholic Church in Elbersberg, Oberfranken.)

Thank you so much for your work.
