[OL] Prisoner Of War Camps

Hello,
A lot of mail this past two weeks has been about German towns in the United States and in Germany and both before and after World War 2. I wonder now if there may listers that recall, like I do, the POW Camps in the U.S. We lived on a farm about seven miles from one in Wisconsin. During the time to harvest the pea crop the canning factory had POW's help with the farm labor so we had some at our farm for several days. Both of my grandfathers were born in Germany. (Steinfeld, Oldenburg and Pickliessem, Rheinland-Pfalz) I was too young to know why we couldn't understand them but my mom and dad and my grandparents sure could. I wonder now if maybe they could have been from the same area. I know there were other country's soldiers in camps also but the ones we had were Germans. Anyone that knows of a website or can share any information please do.

Thanks,
Frank Hellmann
