Annette -

My husband and I visited the museum this past October and have the brochure.
However, in looking at the route map, I do not find a SUING house. Perhaps
it has been renamed. If you would like, I could send you a scan of the book
and/or some of the pictures we took of the museum.

Liebe Listenmitglieder,

mittlerweile bin ich in Sachen Familinforschung ziemlich fest in Oldenburg
angekommen.

Eintrag in meinem .blog ( http://www.kracke.org/blog/?p=32 ) dar?ber
geschrieben.

http://list.genealogy.net/mailman/listinfo/dna-genealogie-l

einige Erfahrungen austauschen k?nnen ;o)

Dear Fred or any list members?

Do you have the brochure from this museum? I visited the museum in 1988
and I was too young then, but now I would like more info one of the
buildings they have there, the SUING House. The website, as you say,
has very little info and I did email them once, with no answer yet.
Thanks
Annette Suing Sweetman (in the US)

Fellow researchers,

My father was born in 1884 in the village of Loehne by Dinklage. He served
his compulsory military service in the Kaiser's Guard. We have his picture
in
dress and regular uniform. With help from a researcher knowledgeable in the

German military, I know he was a grenadier. In order to find out more about

his service I have been told that I need to start with the stammrollen. I
am
assuming this would be Dinklage. I would appreciate any help that anyone
can
give that would help further the search.

Mit freundlichen Gr?ssen

Hallo, Fred,

Yes, I first encountered some Cloppenburg photos on your site, and enjoyed
them very much! Thank you!

But, I was fortunate enough to visit Germany for the first time last August
and got to see it first hand. They had a brief paper program in English,
which states, (well, I can't find the quote at the moment) that you can see
[from the poor conditions] why your ancestor left Germany. I LOVED
Cloppenburg, which ran a close second to standing on the land on which my
ancestor was born! I may post photos at a later date - I'm still working on
labeling them.

I think the 3rd best time was visiting the open air museum in M?nster -
similar to Cloppenburg, but not as large.

Our research was moved light years ahead by the wonderful archivist in the
municipal building in Neuenkirchen. There are just not enough ways to say
"thank you" to this wonderful lady. And this was all facilitated by our
"cousin" whom I met through this very list.

The Oldenburg-l list is a good thing! :)
