I am sorry but this is not any help with your question.  I wish I could offer some.  I received this e-mail I guess because i have been trying to find an old German friend and had posted a question myself earlier.  I am wondering if you have any idea how to call for phone directory assistance in Germany.  I have an old phone number for a friend, but it has been changed.  I cannot call international directory assistance from the States because of the AT&T monopoly and I am not a customer of theirs.  Do you know if there is some way to call directly to Germany and get directory assistance?  I would appreciate any advice.  Thanks and good luck with your search.
