Did your Tietjen own Tietjen & Lange Shipyards on New York harbor?  
It may have been in Hoboken, New Jersey or Brooklyn, New York  ---   
and it was purchased and operated by Todd Shipyards during my childhood.

Just a few nights ago while looking for my grandfather's brother in early 1900s 
Hudson County, New Jersey censuses, I found him living next to a household 
including members with both of those surnames, Tietjen and Lange -- and I 
had a midnight flash of memory about the shipyard!
