"Could someone help me in translating this post into German?" Thank you
I am hoping that I can have your assistance to my Forefather Conrad Am End, who was also the Mayor in Partenstein in the later 1600's
We come from a long list of descendants from Partenstein,Spessart Forest, Germany. Other descendants are the following: Im hof/ Imof, Steigerwald, Breydenbach/Breitenbach, Lang, Born, Neuf. Muetzel, (1648 to the middle 1700's)
The village of Partenstein was first mentioned around 1233. The names Am End /Amend, do not appear in Partenstein till after 1648.(Lutheran Church) The surnames are different in Partenstein after 1650, than they were in the 1550's. There were only 111 people living in Partenstein in 1639. There were 450 inhabitants around 1602. The name Am End was changed to Amend only in the 1700's in Partenstein
Conrad Am End/Amend was born in June of 1648. Died in 1738. He was married on January 23, 1680, to Catharina Im Hof/Imhof, daughter of Hans Im Hof/Imhof.
I understand that there was research done for a Dorothy Hoff Thomas that indicated: Mattessen Am End b.1550, Monrot... ( could be "Wohnrod" near Burgsinn... "dialect") to Wildenstein, Underfranken 1620, to Aulbach, Unterfraken 1648 then to Wildensee, Unterfranken in the 1700's.They are all in the area of the Spessart Forest, in close distance to each other and close to the River Main.
At this point we do not know where Conrad Am End was from or who his Forefathers are. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Ruth Amend (Canada)
