Hello Ruth,
Yes I think this is a good post! Personally I would "add" also that you would be interested in all the Amend lines in and around the Spessart area. I connected and learned allot of information from cousin lines...........again the pieces fall into place and you can figure out who's who............;-)
Also this is a brick wall for you right? Well you might want to say it........people like to solve puzzles and help people. So maybe you could be a little more desperate........or needy.........in finding the information.
In your next post be sure to include the possibility that there maybe information in the Lords archives list the lords and ask where you would find those records.
I hope this helps but its good to get out there because you might be searching for something someone already knows...............
Its happened to me.................
Best regards
Kurt

Hello Everyone!
I am hoping that I can have your assistance to my Forefather Conrad Am
End, who was also the Mayor in Partenstein in the later 1600's
We come from a long list of descendants from Partenstein,Spessart
Forest, Germany. Other descendants are the following: Im hof/ Imof,
Steigerwald, Breydenbach/Breitenbach.
The village of Partenstein was first mentioned around 1233. The names
Am End /Amend, Breydenbach/Breitenbach do not appear in Partenstein
till after 1648. Steigerwald appears around 1602. The surnames are
different in Partenstein after 1650, than they were in the 1550's.
There were only 111 people living in Partenstein in 1639.The name Am
End was changed to Amend only in the 1700's in Partenstein
The information I have on Conrad Am End:
Conrad Am End/Amend was born in June of 1648. Died in 1738.
He was married on January 23, 1680, to Catharina Im Hof/Imhof,
daughter of Hans Im Hof/Imhof.
My father Gottfried Am End/Amend moved to Canada in 1958. We do know
there are descendants who have moved to the USA who have the Imhof
name from Partenstein.
I understand that there was research done for a Dorothy Hoff
Thomas that indicated: Mattessen Am End b.1550, Monrot... to
Wildenstein Underfranken 1620, to Albach, Unterfraken "1648"...
At this point we do not know where Conrad Am End was from or who his
Forefathers are. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank-you
Ruth Amend (Canada)
